This does happen. It could be for several reasons. The baby could have been severely deformed, street drugs might have done it, or the woman had a medical condition the made it happen. So, in some cases she could have caused it and other cases she may not have done anything wrong.

I know a girl that was pregnant and everything was going fine until she got to be five months and the fetus died due to a large birth defect in it's skull/head and they made her deliver. It was stillborn.
A stillbirth is the death of a baby in the womb after the 20th week of pregnancy. Stillbirths occur in about 1 in 200 pregnancies. A stillbirth is a tragic and heartbreaking experience. In many cases the loss is completely unexpected, because it ends a pregnancy that was seemingly problem-free. About 85 percent of these deaths occur before labor begins.

The pregnant woman may suspect that something is wrong if the fetus suddenly stops moving around and kicking. An ultrasound can usually confirm that the fetus has died. Labor is usually induced. Generally, a woman does not need a cesarean. After delivery, the fetus, placenta and umbilical cord are examined to determine why the fetus died. In up to half of cases, however, the cause of stillbirth cannot be determined

A 27 week old fetus in a womb is much different that a baby born at 27 weeks. Sometimes these things happen. It could have been anything.

it is not always something that we do.... It could be because of a difficult birth.... Or that it just wasnt ment to be....

Sometimes things like this happens for no reason at all...
the most healthiest baby during pregnancy can be very ill after the birth....

it could be something you do, drugs, alcohol. usually there is no known cause, they just don't know. a placental infarct, genetic disorder, cor accident, amniotic bands, all can cause fetal demise.

I REALLLY DON'T THINK ITS ANY THING THAT WE DO. AND ITS REALLY HARD TO SAY WHY IT WOULD HAPPEN, AND ITS REALLY SAD TOO. BUT THERE COULD BE MANY REASON, AND REALLY THE ONLY WAY TO FIND OUT WHY IS TO ASK YOUR DOCTOR.
