I think it's not possible to delete the specific history data for search items you've entered in Internet Explorer. Either delete them manually in the history tab or delete everything. Below are the details:

In Internet Explorer, Go to Tools->Internet Options->General (Tab)->Temporary Internet Files->Delete Files (Check "Delete All Offline Content).

In Mozilla Firefox, Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete and select the options regarding data that you want to delete.

If you are using yahoo then the history icon is at the upper left corner. Just click on history and all that you have amassed there can be seen. Just right click on each item and select delete. Or just go to tools and click delete history.

Click on tools>internet options> clear history. It's also an idea to delete cookies and temporary internet files too.

Right clic on your IE icon, then select Properties and click Clear History.

If you are using a providers search engine you may also need to use their help function to find out how to clear their search memory.
