They are better since they bought compaq! Modern ones are reasonably good for the money you have to pay for them. They are not as good as really top end notebooks (thinks... sony Vaio) but theya re much better than 'no name' cheap ones.

I have an HP notebook and I am very happy with it. Customer service is excellent.
The price for its specs are reasonable. Plus it looks sleek and modern
