This is a controversial topic at the moment with ongoing debate about whether the causes of schizophrenia are genetic or environmental. There is evidence to support both.

Schizophrenia is caused form several factors too much to list on here. From personal experience if you are physically abused, that can be traumatic enough to bring on Schizophrenia . That is just one example.

Not all individuals that have Schizophrenia are labled as totally insane or crazy.

The traits and forms of it listed are in several people that are great workers in Society and have fairly smooth lives, but their compulsions are noted.
The way they dress, or the way the hang their clothes in order or how they arrange things in their homes brings out a certain mental trait asscociated with Schizpohrenia, but they are not a danger to Society and work normal jobs.

The boderlines and more chrnic symtons become so severe some that they can no longer work in Soceity and prefer to live alone away from everybody. Some cases have been known to really make some go bizarre.

Treated with Setaline or other medications, these indviduals can cope and lead healthier lives, but the problem will never cease to leave them clean, it only leaves for a short while because their ability to think has also developed a trait and can lead them in the wrong direction. So when they get on medication and wake up and say hey what a beautiful world...they have to learn all over again.

Psychosis is also one of the problems associated with Schizophrenia, but their two different illnesses.

It's very difficult, like I said its too long to list here because your asking a question that can fill up twenty pages. It is best that you go online and search it out.

Voices- Schizophrenics tend to hear voices sometimes mocking sometimes nonsensical sometimes they dictate what the person is doing sometimes they bark commands sometimes they make no sense, sometimes they are sounds and not voices. These are things that appear that they had no control over or did not think up .

Hallucinations- Schizophrenics have a tendency to see/smell/feel/taste things that are not there

Delusions- Mainly paranoid schizophrenics become convinced of things such as cameras are watching them people can hear their thoughts many strange illogical things that they cannot be convinced of other wise

Random disorganized mood swings

Suspiciousness- especially of partners

Completing tasks- they tend to find it hard to complete tasks

Disorganized speech and thought- often conversations with schizophrenics jump from topic to topic with no real joint along with their thinking

Increased sensitivity- in colours, sounds, all sorts of things and especially emotionally

Catatonic behavior- a person will not move or change position for sometimes hours at a time all they may do is lay in bed

Decrease in hygiene

Withdrawal from society

Schizophrenics tend to have varying symptoms from person to person there are different forms of schizophrenia but sometimes they may be put into more than one category, it is a very baffling illness and there is no known cause or cure

While, no one is sure exactly what causes schizophrenia there is evidence that suggests that schizophrenia is genetically link and possibly enviromentally triggered. For example there is a higher likelihood that an identical twin will develop schizophrenia if their identical sibling has it, but it is not guarenteed.

Symptoms of schizophrenia come in two forms that is the positive and negative symptoms. Positive symptoms are things that are added to 'normal' experience eg. hallucinations, dellusions, disordered speech ect. Negative symptoms are symptoms of something missing eg. catatonic behaviour, flat mood ect. There are also different types of schizophrenia ie. disorganised, paranoid, catonic ect. The predominance of some symptoms may vary from type to type.

Unfortunately, it's not real clear, but most experts believe that it is a disorder that originates in the brain. There is no real way to detect it early. The only possible clue that we currently have is that it tends to "run" in the family (but not necessarily like a generational thing, i.e., Uncle Larry is schizophrenic, so I have a higher probability than someone who has no schizophrenic uncle. It's not my dad had it so I will have it, just that it's in the family).

Schizophrenia usually has an onset in a person's early twenties. Again, we haven't really figured out how or why it occurs. We can barely describe it, but the major identifier is someone who has lost touch with reality.

Schizophrenia is a generic term, covering a wide spectrum of mental conditions, creating a general nervousness, lowering the degree of confidence and trust, sometimes also giving rise to vague fear: all of us have s'phrenia in varying degrees, perhaps! When the fear or nervousness manifests, the symptom most prominent is lack of confidence, fear of people around, fear of failure etc.
