SLIDING DOORS with Gwyneth Paltrow; THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT; DRAGONFLY are some examples of metaphysical movies.
Your examples, X-Men and Fantastic Four are just comic strips made into movies and do not actually have metaphysical themes worthy of the label. If you like that kind of movie, watch Daredevil with Ben Affleck or Elektra with Jennifer Garner.
War of the Worlds is just science fiction. If you want stuff like that, watch 2001: A Space Odyssey or any of the many, many films in the Science Fiction section at Blockbuster.

Did you see those ones...
You will think for a while it is for real, but of course it is not....
