i do not think its racism at all, its just two different people who have clashed. if they were both of the same origin none of this contrerversy would be happening.

i don't think this is racism at all, it is just two people how are not getting on!! just because shilpa is Indian and jade is English and they argue it does not make it racism, if every one was like that then every one would be classed as being racist. so NO i don't think it is racism!!!

C4 puzzled all 3 about what they stated so now they understand they have come for the era of as racist. Danielle and jade both apologized to shilpa very last evening - they don't mean it - it only cos they have been instructed by massive bro in a sly way... jade should be evicted this evening - i'm balloting!

As someone else has commented here... "White Trash" is far more insulting and blatantly racist than "Shilpa Popodom". Imagine if someone had called Jermaine "Black Trash"... then there'd be a real problem!

If an indian person called me "Bob Fish'n'Chips" I'd just laugh. If a non-white person called me "White Trash" I'd tell them where to get off. They focused on Jade because of her temper and the obvious contempt that was shown. That's the real problem.

In one news item they showed Indians buring stuffed dolls in the street... imagine if the situation were reversed, the show was in India, and british people burned dolls in the street!

Let's face it... the whole thing is a 3 ring media circus, and if Jades PR people are clued up, she'll come out of this better off than before... everyone loves a prodigal son/daughter story.

Hate>Love>Hate>Love... she's probably been told by now by her Publicists that if she plays her cards right she can ride this one for a lot of career benefit.

JADE......RACIST.....? I think NOT!!! Anyone who watches Big Brother knows that this is what happens every year and thats partly why millions of people watchit. People fall out, they group together and fall out, they voice opinions etc. Just because two people of differecnt ethnic origins fall out and argue deosn't make it racist. We need to put the whole thing into perspective and remember that only one of Jades comments is truely questionalbe, which was the "Shilpa Popadom". When you compare it with Jermain Jacksons comment of "White Trash" it becomes trivial. Yes Jades mum may have been trashy but when you bring colour intothe arguement then yes it becomes racist. I find it scandleous that this commnet has not been picked up and highlighted as much as Jades or even more. Just because people of colour make comments doesnt make then voide from been held accountable. We put jade in the spot light becasue she was a bit thicka nd we loved her for it. It is now not acceptable to comdenm her for the very reason we all loved her before. The papers repeort that 40, 000 complaints were made, they fail to tell us that 20,000 were to do with the illeged racist comments and the other half were to do with the editing ofthe programme!! We also need to look at who is actually speaking out about the programme, politician who admittedly say they don't normally watch Big brother and many asian people who also admitt that before Shilpa was on the progarame would not have watched it, and there for not having a clue about the kinds of characheristics that BB can bring out in a person. Most people who have been on BB see their footage and can not believe how they have behaved! Yes Jade behaved horribly and should be ashamed of herself for picking on someone, but was it racist? I m British (Black), my partner is British (White) and our 2 beautiful children are mixed race. This media farce has done nothing to highlight real racial problems, all it has done is help the National Front and other such organisations. It shows that people of colour are protected as it seems that no arguement can be had without the "Race card" been used. It highlights the fact that people of ethnic origin can make comments on national telivision and not be held accountable.
We saw that in India the responce to this was to burn figures of C4 producers and jade and her family have received Death threats. This is not and educated, measurable or civilised responce!?

i am a british citixzen of indian origin here. i have been watching big brother since shilpa decided to come on the show. i dont think there was anything racist about the comments yet there was subtle discrimination. maybe because Shilpa is a very famous actress in indian cinema. say in the likes of cameron diaz for indians and followers of movies made in india. she is definately more popular of the two. i think its just jealousy. but i admire the way shilpa is hanging on to this torture called jade. she needs to wag her tongue less i guess. but yea i dont think racism its just plain lack of respect and basic courtesy

The words mountain out of molehill springs to mind.

As I have stated before Jermaine Jackson called Jade Goody "White Trash" that is a direct reference to the colour of ones skin. That is a racist comment.

The problem with Jade is ignorance. She doesn't put her brain into gear before her mouth opens. It won't matter after tonight, Jade will be gone. She is being given security guards for a week to protect her. Channel 4 and Big Brother are rubbing their hands in glee at the figures.

i don't think jade is racist. I do think that she has to re evaluate how she talks to other people no matter where ther'e from, britain, india, mars however there is no intent from her. Shilpa Poppadom, whats racist about that. you might as well say mark Roast dinner or scott fish and chips, maybe even lisa pie and mash. this is not insulting. if anything if i was called scott roast dinner then i would think whats so insulting about that. ( roast dinner??? i could fancy a roast dinner right about now ) i dont think that being called that would offend me. roast dinner is british and im british and proud of it. same with poppadom!!! its indian and whats so wrong about it. arn't indians proud about themselves??? i would be proud of being indian as it is full of colourful environments and exotic lands ( a beautiful place ) . I think this whole thing is being blown out of proportion. joe, jack and danielle on the other hand have been full of racist comments. While jade is strongely opinionated i don't think that jo and danielle should of jumped on the band wagon to gang up on shilpa. jade should of spoken to shilpa outside away from the rest of the house in a more appropriate manner. Big Brother had a part to play in this. considering the show is delayed a day before being shown on tv if it was such a serious offense they could of edited it to not be shown and dealt with the seriousness of this matter by explaining to jade that it is unnaceptable, they want the publicity and do not care at the expense of others. jade and shilpa ARE different. i know there is much emphasys on us all being the same but we are NOT!!! if you work in sales or even the government like myself we are made to realise that people are individual, ( hence why we offer services differentely to others beacause being different people they require our support in different ways ) i am not justifying jades actions as regardless of her actions it was unaceptable but shilpa needs to realise that she is different to jade and the other housemates. they are all of individual backgrounds. Jade grew up wih nothing and shilpa grew up with a privalidged background ( THEY ARE DIFFERENT) i think shilpa needs to realise that sometimes we do ask very formal questions and thats the way brits are but jade needs to realise that alot of other cultures are more reserved and keep themselves to themselves! i think jade and shilpa need to both learn each others culture. maybe even spend a month in each others shoes!

I don't think the recent events were motivated by racism, but an undercurrent of racism has been exposed since.

The fact is the girls are jealous of Shilpa for being prettier, richer and far more talented. If she had been white and posh it would have been "Oh where's your pony - did Daddy buy you that top - la di da etc" Had the person been a particularly effeminate gay man, there would have been a lot of 'mincing' and limp wrists.

The fact is they are three undereducated inarticulate girls without the vocabulary to voice their feelings. As such they have picked the first thing they can with which to hurt - and that happens to be her race.

Yes Jade kinda racist but Shilpa deserved to bullied because all indians & pakistanis are ignorant and don't respect their neighbours.

The fact that Jade called Shilpa, derogatory names referencing to her culture / country of origin, means she is being xenophobic and classist. Regardless of Jades reasons for bullying Shilpa, the fact still remains she still abused Shilpa with xenophobic and classist actions.
