Simply because the British press sell newspapers (make money) from building people up as celebrities and then tearing them down.
Its a key component in a distraction trick for controlling the masses - we live out our lives, dream about these celebrities (who used to be someone like ourselves), drink beer, sing football songs, die and then 50% of what we have left goes to the government as death taxes.
Basically: We aren’t really obsessed with any of these celebrities – we are just keep on being told we are and we believe it.

It keeps peoples minds off serious problems like the economy, the health service, education etc. If folks were not diverted by such trivia they might start to think about the big issues in life - and that could make things a wee bit uncomfortable for modern politicians.

Probably because she's such a div, and has made millions from exploiting that. She's an arsehole, and a big indication of why England is in such a state.

she has done alot for herself over the past few years.
people like her because she is from a poor background and was not born with a silver spoon in her mouth (unlike shilpa i might add),
but she has made something for herself and worked very hard.
shes also very doen to earth and people like that.
