the number of crimes committed by people under the ageee of 18th has almost double in the last seven years.The Criminal Justice Act, which become law this year,should hav the effect of reversing this trend.Children who commit crimes know that the penalties are minimal.But the new act will make it possible for parents to responsible with the crimes that their children committed.Parents will be fined or will be sentenced to jail if their children committed crime? pls help me!!!

As with all legislation, there will be a degree of discretion in applying the penalties attached to a breach of the Act. Quite often bad parenting is the prime cause of children committing crime or participating in unruly behavior. I often see children that are literally dragged up by their parents with little or no chance of playing a normal role in society. It is unfair to hold such children accountable for breaking the law when they never really had a chance. Consequently I support this legislation and perhaps it will ultimately mean that people will understand the importance of properly caring for our children.

Yes, I've heard that. It comes from the theory that the parent(s) were not able to control their own children and so should be held accountable for any damage or harm that they cause. I think it's a fine law, since it holds parents accountable for their children. Where I live, so many children run wild while the parents could care less what they do. Maybe this law will help them keep their kids in line

WELL IF YOUR KID CARES ABOUT HAVING A ROOF OVER HIS HEAD. HE WILL STOP HIS CRAP. IF YOU GO TO JAIL OR GET FINED HE OR SHE GETS TO LIVE ON THE STREET./ SINCE YOU WILL BE IN JAIL OR YOU WILL BE BROKE.
THIS IS WHY I NEVER HAD CHILDREN. I WOULD BE IN JAIL FOR KILLING THEM. I WAS A REAL BAD KID. MY DAD IS 95 AND I JUST WENT TO SEE HIM AND TOLD HIM THAT I DON'T KNOW HOW HIM AND MY MOM PUT UP WITH MY CRAP. SO THE ONLY THING IS TOUGH LOVE. THAT IS THE ONLY ANSWER TO THE KIDS TODAY. THEY DON'T HAVE ONE OUNCE OF RESPECT FOR THEIR PARENTS OR OTHER PEOPLE. I SAY PUT A FOOT UP THEIR BUTTS. THEY SHOULD HAVE HAD IT THERE YEARS AGO. TAKE AWAY THE GAMES, CD'S AND ALL THE OTHER STUFF YOU TRIED TO BRIBE THEM WITH THAT DIDN'T WORK. SEND THEM TO JAIL FOR A DAY OR TWO. I HAVE SPENT SOME TIME THERE AND BELIEVE ME THEY WILL NOT LIKE IT. SCARE THEM TO DEATH. THAT IS THE WAY MY NEPHEWS LEARNED. WENT TO JAIL FOR A WEEK FOR TAGGING AND THAT WAS THE END OF HIS BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS. GOOD LUCK

Either it will work or we will have more children without parent living at home because their parents have been thrown in jail for some crime one of their kids did.

Educating chidren at home is essential ,if they try to pass this law then they have to have an imformation centre for parents to deal with this ,lets face it the governments have created this situation by creating lean punishments and sentences.
