AOL email will be just fine.
You can also search or otherwise use the AOL website.
If you want to run AOL applications you will need the Mac versions. Expect the some slight differences in the user interface.
The Apple program iChat is a native Mac application that works with both Apple users and AOL users. You can therefore use iChat rather than an AOL program for any chat sessions. Try it and see if you like it better than the AOL application. It is your choice as to what you pick.

yes aol does work with apple but check you version of o/s istalled in the book here is the link to apple site good luck!
