It cannot be called a consipracy when it is in plain view. Our public education system does not stress enough importance on history. It is deemed boring, unimportant, and meaningless. Yet history holds lessons, mistakes, warnings, examples all from which wisdom can be derived. This is not the United States of America this is the United States of Amnesia. Not long ago did President Eisenhower warn the people of this nation of an epidemic , a cancer, growing within the goverment. But we did not heed his warning instead we forgat. 60 years later the cancer, the dangerous merge of Industry and the Military, has grown far beyond repair. From the combat boots to the bombs from the forks the soliders use to even laundry service is controlled and operated by a corporation (MPRI). Even the training of Iraqi police officers is ultimately in the hands of a private company. Now ask yourself would it benefit the military and its heavyly backed private sector to end this war? With defense funding at levels well above the cold war, the recent establishment of North Com (a violation of Posse comitatus), ending the war would be recieving less which is undesirable to both the Military and its Industry.
As outlandish as it might seem to you now the war is not in Iraq but in our system of goverment. It has become a seperate entity thought to be distant, self sufficent, truthful, yet our elected officals including the President, who are to represent millions in one voice have come to be cluttered by their own ambitions beliefs and ideas.
Overgrown military establishments are under any form of goverment inauspicious to liberty, and are to be regarded as particularly hostile to Republican liberty these are the words of President Gerorge Washington in his farwell address.
Bryan is somewhat correct but ignorant of socio-economics. Constant questioning of the goverment whether it be unpopular, outlandish, etc is your duty as both a citizen and a patriot.
The rubicon has been crossed but I believe it not to late to save this country I love so much from the fate of Rome.
Governments constantly choose between telling lies and fighting wars, with the end result always being the same. One will always lead to the other.

The answer is, only in your own mind. Your conclusions are incorrect. I have money, I have a house, I have health care and so do most of the people I know. Why do we have these things? Because there is no conspiracy to keep Americans down. You are only limited by your own drive and desire to succeed in life. Further, what widespread death are you referring to? People are not dying in droves in the streets. Creating grand conspiracies is just a means to explain away personal failures in life.
scottyurb: Since when are the hirings and firings in the Justice Department subject to Senate oversight? The answer is never. John Bolton was an appointee and subject to that oversight. Lastly, the FBI does not give Justice authority to do anything. The FBI is under Justice and Attorney General's authority. No I have coffee thanks, but I would suggest you have some because you need to clear your brain if you agree with the questioner that all Americans are sick, broke and homeless people who are dying in the streets by the thousands behind some unseen conspiracy.
mombogumbo: I am not ignorant of socio-economics and I do not have a problem with people questioning the government. There are problems which need to be addressed and we should never glide along in silent assension, but rather strive to correct inequities where we find them. My problem is with the outlandish, ill informed, and incorrect broad based assertions made by the questioner. Now you can sit over there and pat yourself on the back believing you are more informed if you choose, but this amounts to nothing more than a dishonest assessment based on a few scant lines of text which do represent anything near my actual knowledge on the subject. If the questioner had chosen to post an actual valid position from which to discuss his/her position on the military industrial complex and it's effects on society my answer would have been different, but posting fantasies which have little regard for actual observable evidence do not warrant such an answer.

Our Resident In Chief has got to go. All of these loophole laws that he has hidden behind need to be closed. The absolute power of a Unitary Executive is why our Founding Father's created the Constitution in the First Place. If they wanted a Simian Boy King to be created then they'd a just stayed in England!!
His latest loophole allowed for Justice Department to FIRE a number of U.S. attorney's and replace them with morons and party hacks without being confirmed by the Senate. We all know what happened with John Bolton. By letter of law--Chimpy gave himself this privelege through a vague entry of the Patriot Act.
Since when does firing Attorneys that were given the go ahead by the FBI to prosecute violations of Law regarding Congressional misconduct have anything to do with Patriotism?
Bryan and Mike--Coffee's on--ya need a sniff?

It seems to me that the majority of world`s elite belong to some enormous private club, hell bent on reducing the rest of us to abject slavery. From the 25 or so years i`ve been studying politics, i am convinced something of this nature is going on. There is a mountain of evidence to back it up, just under the surface of mainstream literature, but still there never the less.

Another conspiracy kook. You have been poisoned by Michael Moore and Ted - never met a bottle I couldn't drink - Kennedy. Once you're through rehab you will be OK and see the error in your ways.
