In many cases, the people on the phone have no technical knowledge whatsoever. You are asking questions about doing it yourself, but if you actually do it yourself, your cable company will brush you off when you later report a fault - much the same as your car's warranty being voided because you got your buddy to change the engine instead of taking it to an authorized service location

dud you got to check if your local cable company can provide this service if not then you must move but chances are they do unless you live in the middle of nowere were you must use sattalite dishes with are not to great!
