If they just took a few pictures there wouldn't be a problem. For a number of years now paparazzi have undertaken some really nasty tactics to get the big money shot--usually a celeb reacting to a personal question, or being provoked into anger. Some are really invasive, using zoom lenses to peer inside their homes, or hide in bushes to get personal family shots. They do stalk, and create havoc, traffic accidents and are real idiots about always getting that shot that is going to land them the biggest paychecks. You should watch TMZ the TV show to get an insight into what jerks these people really are.

Paparazzi does not limit their work only by taken pictures. Most of them harass celebrities and provoke them to get into fights to promote pictures of scandals and law suits. I don't know any celebrity whom became famous because of a paparazzi's help. People become famous, because they are good on what they do and that's creating a profitable admiration, that paparazzi can't resist on getting advantage.
Most paparazzi must be frustrated people whom didn't archive anything in life. Extremely jealousy of those whom have everything they always dream of. Did you know to be common paparazzi blackmail celebrities?

I agree with you. I think they just pretend like they hate it. The paparazzi and the tabloid mags and TV shows are crucial to these celebs. They absolutely need them to get publicity for their latest movie, TV show, CD, book, whatever. People like Hilton and Spears know whenever they go out in public they will be swarmed by paparazzi and photographed. "Forgetting" to wear one's underwear is obviously a publicity stunt to keep your name in the headlines. They should absolutely stop whining about it. They make millions of dollars, they are in the public eye and if they don't like it they should just stay in their $20 million mansions and eat a bunch of cookies and puke them up.

If the paparazzi all disappeared, celebrities would hire private detectives to find them, otherwise they would shrivel up and die from lack of attention.
