I do not agree. some ionic bounds can be stronger than ionic bounds.
What is important, is that the distances between atoms in covalent bound are generally smaller than in ionic bounds since the atoms must be closed in order to share their electrons. In ionic bound , the electrostatic force between the ions acts at larger distances than the covalent bound
