To me psychadelic rock is all about exploring different sounds and emotions, so I would say any guitar with some cool effects would do the trick. You could take a cheapo guitar and throw some crazy effects on it, back it up with a cool rhythm section and create some awesome tunes. It's not about what you play it with, it's about how you use what you have to express the music.

any guitar. active pickups for extra highs.
Satriani, Vai play Ibanez and get some awesome sounds out of them. But the pickups are gonna make the difference.
But really, any guitar. Fender, Ibanez, Gibson, PRS, whatever. Anything. Set it up right and you can play anything.
