Sweetie, your question is quite plain.I need to have a few more details to really say, what i would tell her.
If her mother isnt around whether she passed on or ran off. Then at this point you need to tell her the truth. However, tell her in a way that is appropriate for a 3 year old.Is she asking for her mother as opposed to about her?If she isnt, you may want to wait just a little bit longer before bringing this topic up.She is quite young, and even tho a child understands more than we realise. At her age,she may not comprehend what you are trying to get across. So,you must be careful when approaching her,use words she will understand. As i said,it is good to be prepared and want to speak to her early about her mother. So,when the time comes you wont be unprepared, but you should also consider waiting. As waiting,at this point is probably the best thing.I am sorry i couldnt be of more help.If you could add more details it can help us give you a better answer.Good luck hun and have a good day.

Is her mother dead.
You need re phrasing the Q?
Looks like, you have problem with it too, so let a professional, a doctor or some explain her stay with her so you do not tell her some thing else and confuse her completely.

I take it her mother is not around. Just answer what she asks without many details. "Mom couldn't live with us." "Mommy had to leave us but I love you enough for three parents, not just two." If her mother has passed away, tell her so.
