Without a doubt Carl Friedrich Gauss (1777-1855). And with hardly any doubt the second greatest was Leonhard Euler (1707-83). That's the way mathematicians rate them, and they should know.
After these top two, there are dozens and dozens who could claim third place, and it's a matter of taste. But there is really hardly any doubt about the top two.

Me. No really I would say, Albert Einstein. I know he was a physicist, but he was a mathematician too. Math is an important part of physics.
