I would really like to pursue acting, and I don't know how it works. I'm a really good actor. Unfortunately, I don't have "qualified experience" like drama and acting classes. I do know I CAN act throughout my life experiences. I also have lots of different talents. But I don't know a few things.

1. What do they look for?
2. How do I go about getting an agent?
3. Am I even looking in the right direction?

Can somebody please tell me how the industry works? Like...what to do and other things.

Thank you!

An agent is easy. Unless you are A-list, they won't be all buddy buddy with you. Just sign up with a reputable agent. They do all the work (or at least suppose to) and take part of the take (like 10% of whatever you are going to be paid). You will need certain union cards and they will know how to get the cards and what kind of cards you will need.

If you do get assigned to a project, the director or an assistant will have you do a reading (they give you something to read and you read it outloud to them). Depending how many people show up (and there could be hundreds) depends on how much reading you will be doing. Then they cut the list and have you come back for more auditions. They could change what character you play here. I suggest reading books outloud as if they were scripts. At least you would be able to do books on tape (famous people have done those) or voices for video games (video games make more money overall than TV, movies and music combined).

OMG, i asked kind of like the same question just a few mins ago.

ALl i know so far, is:

You need an Agent, in order for your profile to be looked at by Directors.

You need to have your resume, with pictures, with your Agent, and they should be THE ONLY AGENT representing you. Your agent is the one that talks to the Movie Director, and that is the only way you can get in a movie.

You also need to be a member of some program actors/actresses have to sign up for in order to be in the bussiness as a professional.

I, like you, want to be a known actor. But it takes more than "I know I can".

It's all a matter of if THEY KNOW YOU CAN, and if you got what they want.

Just get an agent, a good one, and you keep in touch with them the best way you can, in a professional matter.

Good Luck!

Google or Yahoo search, "Agent Agencies". You need a full resume, and experience to become a successful actor. Take roles in your local plays etc. Hope this helped! Good Luck!

if your just starting, you have to start by doing extra work, and small commercials. agents not only look for experience, but you personality and the air you carry.

to get an agnet, just send in ur headshot and rsume to the agency, not directly to a person unless you know them, and wait until they call you. good luck*
