If you kow you are going to be miserable, just don't go. When you see them again tell them some unexpected personal business came up. This could mean vitually anything. Don't be pushed for specifics. Make sure you call someone on the night, rush conversation, and hang up.

do not in any circumstances think like that. the guys in work only wanna use ya anyhoo. The other girls are a good thing - they can have the VD if they want. I would go along for a bit, have a few drinks and then leave early. That way people can't say your boring and you don't feel rejected by asshole work mates by watching them drool over other women. If i were you, i'd arrange to meet up with some real friends and spend the rest of the nite with them.

Forgive me please but it does sound a little like the green eyed monster here. It is the girl's birthday, wouldn't you expect to be centre of attention on your birthday? Just go and have a drink, wish her happy birthday and then leave, you won't look like a spoil sport if you make an appearance. Put the sour grapes away in your desk drawer and let her have her birthday night out.

Wow, that was hard to read and understand. I do believe you are trying to ask what to do about a work party that you are going to and have already decided before you have even got there that it is going to be a bad situation for you. My first piece of advice would be to change your outlook before you go. If that is impossible for you to do then don't even bother going. Life is what we make of it. You can't change other people, only yourself and if you outlook and attitude are poor then the same result will follow. Good luck with the party.

I think you have a self-confidence issue. You can't live your life by feeling jealous of other people because they get more attention than you!
The guys you refer to obviously prefer you as a friend and these others as shag material. be happy with what you have got and cheer up!!
Monique M is right - change your perspective first or be miserable for the rest of your life.

It is there loss if they want to treat you that way. The only thing you can do is save yourself a lot of stress and hurt feelings and when dealing with these people keep it all businesslike. In time, they will respect you for it.

Be honest - say you don't fancy a party - wish them all a good time - end of story. You have to stand up for yourself - men are worse than women when they sense 'fear' etc. Don't take any more nonsense from them and they'll respect you for it. You can be friendly and nice without being one of the boys...because you're not!

So what you are saying is that you are no longer the center of attention...well heck...get even...don't go. No one can hurt your show-pony feelings if you skip the event. Stomp your foot and say "Phooey on you people!", that will show 'em.

go to the party dressed to kill, put on your best clothes, do your hair, add some make up, put on some nice perfume, goto to the party, enjoy, flirt with the guys, make eye contact with them, if they are wearing cologne tell them they smell nice, if they have nice clothes on, tell them they look sharp, kill them with kind words & a nice personality, always & I mean always smile : ).

Are you jealous, surely its better for you that these guys are'nt harrasing you. Or do you crave the attention that the other girls are having?
