My IQ is about 143, and I love Amazing Race, Celebrity Mole, sometimes Survivor, sometimes The Apprentice, and I never watch Big Brother, rarely watch Bachelor or Bachelorette, sometimes watch Beauty and the Geek 'cause I want to see the guys' makeovers even though I think sometimes the befores look better.
Can't think of others right now. I'm sleepy.
Don't like all the money giveaway shows, like Millionaire, or the one with the briefcases.
I prefer challenging shows. That's what I like about Amazing Race and Survivor, all the challenges.
Remember Battle of the Network Stars? I used to love that, to see my favorite celebrities compete with other celebrities. That could be considered one of the first reality shows.
I think the term Reality Show is a misnomer, because there's often nothing real about some of them.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear, yet another lonely person who can not stand to see others happy :-( BB does not equal mentally deficient, constant moronic rantings about BB is mentally deficient. There's nothing wrong with having a different opinion and even asking a question phrasing your different opinion, but what makes you feel so Superior that you would call those who do watch "Mentally deficient"? It sounds like some of you are compelled to write derogatory comments instead of a well thought out opinion or argument, in fact that sounds similar to OCD doesn't it?, now isn't that a mental condition?

Up front, may I say I don't like reality TV shows and don't watch them.
However television is market-driven and there are people who do watch them and buy the products or services advertised. In other words, they make money for the television industry and its advertisers. So they will continue until the viewing public is as tired and disgusted with them as you and I are.
Until that happens, our option is to not watch them.
On those rare occasions that I watch television I like the History Channel, which I guess is a form of reality but not reality TV.
I think the IQ problems preceded the television programs, by the way.

Reality TV makes people think they can relate to its subjects. Which is sort of bitterly ironic in its own way, since nothing I've seen on reality TV is likely to happen in real life. They put people together and see how they would react given certain circumstances, but their personalities are probably screened beforehand to make sure they would cause the most drama or excitement. When you see an unrealistic combination of personalities in an unrealistic situation doing exaggerated things (drama, mainly), you have to wonder if "reality TV" is what you would call it. To me, it's just like a sitcom with better actors.

It's interesting you single out "Reality" TV. 95% of all TV at least, including sports, dramas, comedies and frankly even the news, contribute absolutely nothing to the average person or to society. If it's interfering with your normal functioning that's one thing, but if people want to watch TV to kill time, why do you care?

Yes.
Unfortunately, they clump alot of different kinds of shows into the reality category.
I think Survior, Fear Factor, Apprentice and Big Brother have run their course. But I like the talent competition reality shows like Americal Idol, Dancing with the stars, Celebrity Duets, etc... are fun to watch.
I would love to see more sitcoms.

I agree that the majority of reality shows are pointless, but it does not bother me much. I just go for a walk, read a book, check my email, surf the Internet, or do something that is not related to watching bad reality TV.

I agree, its time that they stopped because they are getting really stupid and some of them are making stars of people that really shouldn't be. In the beginning okay it was new and we thought that it was interesting but now they need to end them ALL
