Curriculum vitae
It is a document containing a summary or listing of relevant job experience and education, usually for the purpose of obtaining an interview when seeking employment. "Curriculum vitæ" is Latin meaning "course of life." Often the résumé or CV is the first item that a potential employer encounters regarding the job seeker, and therefore a large amount of importance is often ascribed to it.

It stands for Curriculum Vitae, which is latin for "the course of one's life." People would submit a Curriculum Vitae in fields where a regular resume won't work. It has an entirely different format from a resume, in that it shows accomplishments and not job titles, for a specific activity or profession. For example, if you are an artist and need to list the exhibitions you've been involved in, or an academic who publishes articles. These careers don't show well on the traditional time-line bases resume, which is a chronological report of jobs.
