Our society is obsessed with celebrities.
And although everyone says it's not healthy to be stick thin,
a lot of celebrities are becoming drastically thin.
And a lot of girls look at celebrities and think that they're beautiful.
So I think society is giving out a false idea that being stick
thin is the new trend or whatnot. They don't mean to nor do they
want to give out that kind of idea, but because of Hollywood, that's
what it looks like.

Stick thin only in certain areas, mainly big cities, especially the L.A. area. Otherwise, some meat is preferable. Polls show men prefer women with a little meat.

You don't have to be thin. Look at the Numa Numa guy who has the internet fame. I mean, HE IS HUGE!

Also, I don't think women have to be stick thin to fit in, they have to be HOT!.... Not stick thin, because who wants to be dating a twig. If you do then go pick one up from underneath a tree.

I don't care what society says. My husband likes my curves. I think stick thin people look disgusting anyway.

In todays society this holds true but for the men of this sad society, they are well accepted if they are HUGE and covered in bling!!

The real question is, who would you rather be with. A healthy beautiful woman with junk in the trunk or a ugly skinny girl hooked on diet pills ??? A average nice guy or a unhealthy rich fat guy ?

..well...practically everyone would like to look like the skinny, shapely models on glamour magazines,tv shows,advertisements..etc. I mean,u hardly ever see an overweight model do u?and being overweight leads to taunts and unkind remarks from certain ppl.........so,yeah,ppl assume that being thin might make them more acceptable. I heard that they're banning models with a bmi less than 18.I Think its a great idea..but somehow,i don't think it would really change the way ppl think.

yes, what with a lot of people and overpopulation, the society would rather everyone to be thin. Then it will accommodate more.

I don't know what's this obsession with being thin is. I find curvy women very sexy and beautiful. I don't mind women 30-40 pounds overweight.

The media is saying this, yes. I don't listen to them. I am a healthy (not over or under weight) and that is much better. Being too skinny is just as dangerous to your health as being obese. Who cares what the media says? We don't have to listen. Healthy is better. I do, however, wish they would stop it...because young girls think that they should starve themselves. Pretty sad...in real life, healthy looks much better.
