American Idol's Simon Cowell.... Who the heck is he?

Question

Who was this man before American Idol? And WHY is allowed to be so doggoned abusive towards people? I mean being brutally honest is one thing.... But to literally crush contestants with cruel and mean remarks (and sometimes very personal ones) is uncalled for, isn't it? DO you think this situation is leading towards a diseaster like the Jenny Jones show did?

Simon Cowell is/was a producer. I believe he acts the way he does for the ratings. After his behavior last night - I would think that the ratings would drop. I cannot believe that Fox had the nerve to AIR what he said. I mean - they edit those shows - so you KNOW that the producers of American Idol wanted America to see his cruelty. And Paula was no better. Two faced thing. She told the guy she thought he was awesome and then laughed at him after he left the room. The concept of the show is great - mostly when they really get into the real competition. But the judges are getting very cocky in their 6th season. I don't have much respect for any of them - and I would probably turn it off - but I promised my kid we'd watch this season - so I don't want to go back on my word. But even my kid - who is 12 - thought that what they said last night - making fun of somebody's looks - was horrible and cruel. Simon - whoever he is - is not as bright as my 12 year old!!!

I?Y!A + Justin timberlake ;) i think of have been given it riggt the Auditions from BGT must be pre- recorded then for the relatively coach while it formally starts off american idol would be over, cuz theres no way in hell he can fly out from LAX to london 10 hour flight do auditions in Britain with an 8 hour time distinction next day fly out choose night 2 nights in a row fly yet another 10 hours. The time differnece on my own is in basic terms about impossible he may be touchdown byt the time the coach replaced into finished lol.

He is a writer and a reporter Simon has alot of diffrent show he is also doing grease along with the american idle. I think it is wrong for him to judge people the way he does, but have you seen some of those people that go on American Idol that is just crazy Why would you do that to yourselve

He is a music producer. He is right in most of what he says and is really just trying to get rid of the bad contestants early before they waste time and money and lose jobs trying to wimn a contest they have no hope of winning.

He is just stating his opinion when he says things. And I don't think anyone is going to get that mad if Simon says something really mean, or personal to them. (we're taliking about Simon Cowell here)

I have often wanted to punch him in the mouth for some of the things he says to hopeful people.
