I started working at a McDonald's in California when I was 18 and a Senior in high school. I've also worked at a couple of Taco Bells and more McDonald's than I would care to count. I think there have been at least 10. I went through management classes and became a manager and I hated it. It was like babysitting the teen population in the town that I lived in. Also, when we had pay reviews, I didn't get a raise because I had been scrubbing the floors with a brush just before my review and my fingernails were dirty from it. There is a lot of responsibility in managing a McDonald's and it's not for everyone, including me. Now, I wouldn't go as far as saying that I would never work at a McDonald's again because I do have so much experience at it. I made pretty decent money at it as the years went by. But I don't think it would be my first choice as a job. For those people that say that they would never work at a fast food place: never say never because when it comes to paying the bills and putting food on the table and living life, money doesn't fall from the sky and sometimes you just have to swallow your pride and take what you would consider a crappy job. That's just how life goes and nobody is above falling down on their luck every once in awhile. Look at it this way, if it weren't for food service workers, there wouldn't be fast food restaurants to eat at in the first place. The very people that some of you scoff at for working what any of you consider to be a job that you are too good for are quite possibly in a situation where they bust their butts just to take care of their families. Don't scoff too much. It could just as easily be your future as well...

I have ...many years ago. In the 90's there was a recession , fast food jobs were about all I could get at the time. My first real job was at a McDonald's it was all right at the time. I feel fast food workers are abused though. It's tough work for little pay.

I have worked at 2 McDonald's. I think that everyone should work at a fast foo place. It gives you more respect when you go in as a customer to any fast food place. You know how crazy things can get and you understand that they are basically working for peanuts, and they aren't even the salted kind.

I worked for Dairy Queen when I was 16. I would never work in a fast food place again. Although, I think people should experience it at least once, because these people do have to work hard....it isn't always easy.

When I first moved out of state I needed a job immediatly. Wendy's was hiring...I worked there was two weeks (a better job came along). I would never work with food again, it sucked. My mom has done it for 20 years and loves it, just not my thing though.

yes I was a Manager at a mcdonnalds for 14 years. the only good thing i can say I got out of it was multitasking skills and met some great people. like a family. outher then that the pay stinks, no benifits, no vacation, you work on holidays for regular pay, and you actually get verbally abused from some customers, as well as unwanted advancements. Its kind of a thankless job and people dont care if your in the middle of a friday dinner rush with 3 people. They walk in and glare at you.

I personally like going to fast food every now and then, so
I wouldn't work there. I just don't think it's a good idea to work
at a place you like to eat at. I don't want to see how the food is
made and see how hygienic the place actually is.
