My husband and I always preferred to have the first born be a boy, which ours was. However, I have always wanted at least one girl, especially now with 3 boys later :).

A baby boy is preferred as a first child because, as a general rule, men are boys, therefore, a baby boy sounds more like a "toy" with whom they can play (games,etc.). The woman (girl) goes along with wanting a boy first in hopes it will make a man out of the boy. She knows she will bond with either gender immediately but, having the boy first will be such an ego trip for her mate, she is willing to hope for a boy baby first; next child, she can openly wish, hope and pray for that precious little girl. Of course, most all couples accept whatever that famous stork leaves them. The "boy first" preference is not as prominent as it was years ago.

I see your Greek , so I am and that is something important for Greeks. They are way back , sorry. But I have a baby girl and I am a blessed mother and I am expecting to find out if I am pregnant again and if I were I would want another girl.

My preference will be a baby girl. Why? More varieties of clothings to wear. Unlike boys :(
But again, long as the baby is healthy, I'm equally happy :)

Boys are easier to raise and potty train. But I always wanted a girl and during both pregnancies I prayed that I would get a girl. Guys want to have boys so they can follow in daddy's footsteps playing sports and working on cars.

I think you may be right on this one. I believe its because the rumor is that boys are easier to raise. Dad think so because they cant come home pregnant. I have one of each and I think that once you are actually pregnant, it doesnt matter anymore as long as its healthy.

With our first child my BF wanted a girl and I wanted a boy. We had a girl, he was sooooo happy.
With our next one I wanted a girl and he and our daughter wanted a boy. We had another girl.
When we decide to have another child, we both want a boy and so do our girls. So we'll see.
But either way doesnt really matter as long as they are healthy.

I don't know for sure, but Daddies usually like to have an "heir" so to speak to pass he name on. That and they are usually utterly clueless on how to care for a girl that it scares them silly.

Personally, I always wanted girls. But considering I just had my first child and I am 30, I am more than happy with my son! I'm happy just being somebody's mommy.

I just hope that having a healthy baby trumps all preference for a specific sex.
