PREMISE
To get a high, there are legal consequence with unauthorised drug abuse, commitment in marital agreement and avoiding the use of prostitutes for fear of sexually transmitted diseases. Serial monogamous sex has the attraction of fewer legal and social implications today that makes it palatable to the conniving traditional and conservative elders and an easy excuse for the masses.

QUESTION
Morally, short of (in the religious and non-religious aspect) claiming faithfulness and commitment upon marriage, would not persons of this disposition be equivalent to cheating oneself, living a lie, and therefore be likely to be unfaithful based on the saying a tiger cannot change its stripes ?

If you disagree, how so ?

Drug abuse: As in conventionally prohibited against the law, barring places like Amsterdam. Consumption of cocaine, Es and so on. In some countries, trafficking is punishable by death.

COMMENT
A question of change in social values.

The euphoria of sex as an alternative to drugs, prescription or otherwise, alcohol and all other forms of euphoria inducing chemicals deemed by law and traditional conservative moral values as having a socially negative impact.

For the sake of argument, the traditional view point act of sex can be freely available does not condone the act for satiating hormonal impulses;

Philosophical poser: what is to differentiate a dog and a human if both acted on spur of the moment whenever they wanted?

Serious non-academic answers in the above categorical context please.

No personal implications here.

Please go ahead to alter the premise better suit your argument as you deem fit.

Serious Answers only please.

BACKGROUND
Question is based around studies on sexual promiscuity, changing social values of the 20th century and its effects on ethics and moral values. Empirical evidence demonstrate rising cases of STDs and single parents in American (world's highest?) and an increase in the number of AIDs cases in Africa.

Agree that based upon social statistics with the suggestion that people need certain relief from this physical impulsion, no personal implications here neither. Two: if the previous holds then assuming sexual drive reduces in severity after middle age the implications of cheating oneself are less serious if one only spends twenty years etc indulging in this sort of arrangement because the interest in partaking in this type of physical arrangement is less significant according to a person's age and physical condition. The individual is living a lie if they see sex as such an important part of their lives to the extent that they make these sorts of arrangements, this erases the importance of other values in their lives. Are human relations maintained on the basis of emotional satisfaction based on physical means? But in consequence you are debating an issue which has less influence on the wider spectrum of society then say drugs, hence it is a case of individual choice and a point to be kept within the smaller social circle.

As a recovering drug addict, I can tell you that if you think sex will be a viable alternative to drugs then I wish you luck. It would be bashing your finger with a hammer to get over a toothache. Sex is a high yes but, like any substitute you'll eventually need more sexual activity for the same effects which will inevitably lead to high risk behavior. Instead, maybe you should take a look at your life and why you're asking this question in the first place.

Probably so. The number of cases of single parents and sexually transmitted diseases in America and Africa alone is quite evident of this practise. Sex has a stronger naturalistic pull and justification as nature’s intended way of procreation. I think any form of a ‘fix’ that is not prohibited will see the meek and law abiding indulge in. Its nature and sanction by law shows that the opposite side of the coin where the opposite values of birth control and the use of contraceptives have difficulty imposing. Social ingratiating values have more to play in determining society at various strata influence the next generation.

I think you have misconstrued your argument.
There is a difference between what our bodies are programmed to require and welcome, and what they are not.
To hell with public opinion.
Our bodies respond chemically to sex, bonds are formed and relationships develop. We then decide from emotions and experience whether the relationship is healthy. If it is we continue to be delivered drugs naturally that benefit our well being. This is like God giving you sweets for being good (or nature if you prefer).
Drugs are like stealing sweets, and our bodies punish us for bad behaviour. Quite apart from what the drugs themselves do.

Just like hands and temperature, your body decides what's good for it and lets us know. Warm gloves = good, fire = bad.

There are arguments for the use and abuse of drugs, but you have outlined none of them. To equate a stable loving relationship with drug use makes me quite sad that their is someone so unloved.
