It depends.
In the long (decennies!) run a stock's behaviour is always determined by its profits. If the profits go, than so will the stock price, all other things being equal.
On shorter periods, stocks have large fluctuations around the long term profit determined trend. These movements have such large amplitudes that they can completely mask the trend.
To see what I mean, here is a very long term chart of the Dow Jones. The trend is up, on a par with the American economy, but it was a rough ride at times.

Hi,
analyst do predict the market the technical way and their analysis is more or less accurate.
Market is governed by the several facts and rumours, Also the Big Investors,Mf's,FII's active trades also gives direction to the Market.
But, there is no need to Panic anytime because the Fundamentally strong stocks perform very well always.

All securities markets are controlled by free markets, and they will always be unpredictable.
The reason for this is because financial statements are complex and investors all have different methods for analyzing them.
Markets can also be brutal for companies that fall out of favor with the media, and this can happen any time.

Market is always wrong. If you want to invest in stock market with prediction, it will be your deadly sin to investment. If you really want to be quite predictable, be the one who sell stocks. Thus you can be the one who controls a small part of the stock market.
