I purchased just couple of days ago a Div-X dvd player. the brand is Philips and model is DVP5965. It has hd upscaling features and usb support and divx ultra. Well i was amazed by how it improves the picture quality of any video i play. I compared it with the video quality of my PC (I ran the same videos simultaneously to compare) and i was like WOW! The colors are richer, and the quality of the pic is very good in my new dvd player. but i am curious about using hdmi feature since i haven't tried this feature before, and it is turned off in my menu maybe because i don't have an hdmi cable (it wasn't supplied on my purchase of this dvd player). I want to purchase it because i've heard and read on the internet comments about how the hd upscaling has further improved GREATLY the video quality. But the problem is I don't have an HDTV (Widescreen flat TV or whatever). I'm only using an average TV. It's not flat, it's not lcd or plasma.....i repeat it is just an AVERAGE tv. ????

Look - most service providers for cable are not capable of showing HD formats even yet, but upgrading equipment little by little is the best way to go.

When you can afford to have the whole shebang you will notice a difference

you probable will see little or no progression as your set is constrained to a max of 480 lines of decision on the main. i might advise which you playback in known definition, so as that the participant isn't attempting to generate a sign that may not there to be reveal on a sequence that can not reveal it.
