I came across someone talking negative about it. I;ve seen the movie so many times now && i love it! First, the grandfather who in fact is a heroin addict loves his grandchildern && never did the drug in front of them && in fact told Dwyane NOT to do it! Dwyane took the vow of silence to show just how serious he was about flying && that he was not going to give up his dream for it, even after he had found out he was colorblind. Frank was family, sure he may have been suicdal but he was still family! Are you telling me that if one of your family members became suicdal you would turn your back on them? Olive wanted to be in the beauty pagent! They didnt force her to be in it. Before she went on stage they even asked her if that truly was what she wanted to do, and she has said yes. If your daughter wanted to be in one and she was fat && not gorgous would you tell her no? It;s a movie, get over yourselvs! It just shows NO family is perfect. All our familys have our own problems.

I loved the movie but the truth is that all the main characters are very unhappy and unhealthy people (except maybe little miss sunshine).
The reason we love the movie is that it takes on a journey showing that normal is relative. The movie opens and we meet one character after the next and each one is more messed up than the last. Then we travel with them and laugh, forgetting about the character flaws and just enjoy the fact that they are quirky and not hurting anyone. At the end of the movie they meet up with a group that is even more messed up (the child hood pagent groupies) and we start to see the main characters as normal.
By the end we like the characters even more because they look normal compared to the pagent crew and we feel some guilt for not liking them at the start.
The people who don't like the movie may feel that it is wrong to glorify unhealthy behaviour. For example one of the critics could be a recovering drug addict who doesn't like the fact that herion addiction is shown as OK and that a grandfather can still have a positive relationship wth his grandkids as long as he shoots up in another room.
I loved the movie but I can see how some people find it unrealistic and unheathy.

I liked the movie! In fact it had been a while that I came across a movie that although the characters are eccentric are not THAT much..They don't exaggerate..They are real, everyday people. And it showed the strong bond a family can share whatever the problems may be, without having any glamorous declarations and stuff u only see in movies!

The only problem I really had with it was that the grandfather was the one coaching this girl on her routine. At the end, we discover it is essentially a suggestive, strip scene of a seven year old girl. So, those times she is alone with him doing her routine, she is doing that kind of stuff with him. That suggests sexual abuse in my opinion. Not to mention, this world already has enough problems with people sexualizing children. That bothered me.

I LOVED THAT MOVIE.
I got the dvd as soon as it came out.
Those people who talked negative are just too immature and ignorant
to understand the storyline and overall concept of the movie.

I have not seen it yet. I wasn't sure what to make of it when I saw the cover and I don't watch tv much so I have not seen any previews of it. You've piqued my interest though so now I guess I gotta go out and rent the movie.
Thanks! LOL

I LOVED THE MOVIE but that is my opinion. Not all movies can please all people. You just gotta like what you like and don't listen to the rest.
