its the three dimentional structure that the protein assumes when it is synthesized. egsample a globular protein or a linear protein.
Sometimes when doing experiments, proteins are denatured (sulphide bonds broken) to a linear conformation for seoperation on PAGE electrophoresis( SDS-PAGE)
