Leap year is a year that has 366 days in it instead of 365. They happen every 4th year. The last was in 2004. The next will be 2008. In those years there is a February 29th.
A cool and easy way to remember which are leap years is this: Summer Olympics are all held in leap years!

every leap year which is 4 years, a february 29 will result as a year is actually 365.25 days so after 4 years, a day is added to make up for the four 0.25 days.

My mate became born on the twenty ninth of February 28 years in the past and she or he celebrates it each 3 hundred and sixty 5 days although if that is a leap 3 hundred and sixty 5 days,...on the twenty eighth Feb! The date may no longer be shown on the calenders each 4 3 hundred and sixty 5 days,...yet she assures me she's ageing! ;)
