King Kong wasn't her name!! But she had just lost her baby when she found Tarzan. She took him in to complete their family that they once had before the tiger ate her baby.

That must be some of that new footage. I don't ever recall King Kong being in a Disney movie

The head gorilla is named Kerchek (sp?) and he didn't agree to raise Tarzan. He agreed to let Carla keep him because of their loss. Kerchek actually says to Carla that he doesn't see him as a son. That was the touching part of the end when Kerchek accepts him as a son and then commissions him to look after the family as the new king.

He done it because he loved the woman monkey and she had lost her baby to the leopard. It's an odd time where a man puts his partners feelings before his own.

because the gorilla's baby had recently died, tarzan was a replacement
