I will tell you what family values, means to me and how I worked on having a loving family that is respected by all who know them.
I married a wonderful man 49 years ago in 1957. We were very much in love and our love for each other has continued to grow each year.
We have 4 children, married with children.
We disciplined them and showed them how much we loved them.
We set an example for them to follow by being honest, kind, caring, and most important we taught them to be independent.
We taught them respect others feelings and that they were no better than anyone else but we taught that no one was better than they were. All people should be treated equal.
We never let them see any of the disagreements between my husband and I. If we had a problem, we settled our differences in private.
We took them to church together as a family. We wanted them to know there a God and he was their Father in Heaven. We wanted them to know the story of Jesus the Christ who came to earth to take upon him the sins so that the law of forgiveness came into effect.
They know if the sin, they can ask for forgiveness, if they don't commit the same sin over and over. They know that murder and denying God is an unforgivable sin.
We always give to the poor.
The most important thing is to teach by example.

Start promoting children to take some family responsibilities from their teen-age years according to their capabilites. Let them learn time management, financial management, budgeting for their needs and expenses etc to start with.
Lack of financial management is the key component of many family breakdowns.
Explore risk management issues as a family - health and life insurance issues etc.
