I smoked for 30 years.Stopped 5 years ago.Hardest thing I have ever done.
I don't know when I became addicted. When I first started it made me sick to smoke in the morning before coffee. Then I was waking up in the middle of the night to smoke.
I stopped because I wanted to live for my grandchildren.<><

Good question...Although I liked the buzz I got when I had my first cigarette (at 15), I never really was "addicted" until I went away to college. The whole "being away from home with no parents (or anyone) to stop me" freedom thing made me become addicted (along with my stupidity).

I don't know how many cigarettes it took. But I do remember when I realized I was hooked. It was when I bought my first pack in college... about two months after I tried my first puff. Deeply regret it now.

I don't recall how many it took to get addicted - it happened without me realising it.
I'm currently trying to quit. I've limited myself to a max of 5 a day. Even smoking those makes my lungs feel like sh!t though. I know that I NEED to quit, but I don't really WANT to... tough call.
