Don't worry...sounds like you are perfectly normal! Your uterus doesn't get higher than your naval until after the 25-28th week. At the end of 5 months you should definately be feeling some movement, but every mother and every child is different. Some of us feel strong jabs and flutterings, others only feel "bubbles" or tiny butterflies. Good luck to you and enjoy! Before you know it that belly will be big and beautiful!

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by your belly being stretched over your belly button. Your button is PART of your belly.... are you asking if it's normal for your belly button not to push out due to your uterus not expanding much? If that's what you meant, then yes, that's nomal for some women. Women can carry low and they can also carry deeper inside the pelvic cavity, often appearing only four months pregnant when they can be seven or eight months along. Each woman is different. And each pregnancy can be different for the same woman! Also, at five months, you might not feel as much movement as you will later on. But unborn babes are just like the rest of us, some are more active than others. It really doesn't matter on how much a woman weighed before pregnancy. So, some women will get constant movement, some moderate, some alot (as with mine, she NEVER let me rest, bless her heart). However, if you go days without any movement, please check with your Doctor when you visit him/her for your regular pregnancy check ups. They can do a doplar on you or an ultrasound just to make sure the baby is doing well. I wish you a great pregnancy, easy birth (hopefully not too long) and a nice, healthy babe!

I have a tilted uterus, so I didn't show till I was around 5 months. I just felt bloated and yucky and couldn't wait to look pregnant - now my belly is huge! One day it just tipped forward, and I was in maternity clothes by the end of the week. I think that was at 20 weeks or so. I didn't feel movements until a little bit after that, but now she moves CONSTANTLY. I am 8 months right now. Also, I have carried low with her head down the entire pregnancy, they even had to tilt the bed backwards with me almost on my head to do the 18 wk ultrasound (this was to get her head measurements since she was so low).
If it is your first it is okay not to feel a lot of movements, or to be unsure if that's what you are feeling - don't worry, you'll know soon enough!
Also, I am carrying low due to an incompetent cervix, so if you have ever had a LEEP procedure or any other risks factors be sure you discuss with your ob - my baby is already engaged and I am probably not going to make it much further.
Take care!

okay, the first time I got pg I was VERRRRRy thin and I didn't look pregnant for almost six months. With that time I didnt feel a whole lot. More like butterflies for like six months then she became very active. She got to sleep and wake with my schedule. I didnt feel a whole lot of movement because I was Active when she was and she slept when I did.
With my second pg i was a little heavier and carried very low the whole time, guess what? It was a boy!! My belly button never popped out like most women. In fact it didnt with either of my kids.I dont realy think it matters how much you weigh before the pregnancy. It matters how big the fetus is and how active they are. All womens uterus are different sizes and not all of leave lots of room for the baby to roll around. If you are worried about the movements, try this.......As long as you aren't afraid of a little caffiene......drink a little Mountain Dew and then lay real still on a flat hard surface. When the caffiene kicks in the baby will be stimulated and start to move around, it works with them just as well as it does us. Another great thing is called a beebe sounds. You can get them at Wal-Mart and they only cost about 25.00 dollars. Not only can you hear the heartbeat you can record it, or play the heartbeat through your surround sound system. TOOO COOOOOL. Hope this helps, you can email me if youd like-at lobsterdos@yahoo.com

Some people carry low during their whole pregnancy. If it is your first pregnancy, you may not have blossomed yet. With my first pregnancy, I didn't really start showing until I was about 6 months along. That is when my belly button popped! Your baby is still small so you may not be feeling alot of the movements.

Your weight doesn't matter. Yes in some cases it is normal to carry low with you pregnancy. Of course your baby may be in your back. Both of my kids were toward my back which made it so my belly button never stretched or poked out. Sometimes if they are back that far it is harder to feel much movement. If your still worried you might want to talk to you OB doctor and she'll give you more facts.
Good luck and congrats!!

Don't worry at all how big you get! I was 9 months pregnant before anyone could even tell by looking at me that I was pregnant. I only gained 2 lbs and had a very normal (7 lbs 4 oz), very healthy baby boy. Don't let weight or how big you are worry you! Enjoy being pregnant and not having a big belly! :)

I felt my baby kick for the 1st time when I was 4 months along. The baby will kick more and more as it developes. By 5 months it should be kicking regularly. I had my baby at 7 months and I remember one night a few days b4 he was born that he must've kicked me 75 or 100 times b4 I started counting his kicks. As I continued to lay there he must've kicked me another 200+ times b4 he finally went to sleep (and then I was finally able to sleep!).
He was a big baby for 7-months! He weighed 5lbs.3 1/2oz. & was 17" long!!! And he was perfect and the nurses said he was the MOST BEAUTIFUL BABY they'd ever seen (and he was Beautiful & perfect). He grew up to be very Handsome !!! I shoulda known it was a boy by all those kicks !!!
My doctor was a moron tho! He said it was gonna be a girl, so I had sewn EVERYTHING IN PINK !!! And when I went to hospital in labor at 7 months he leaned over me (a very scared 15 year old [married] girl, and said: "It probably wont weigh but a pound & 1/2 & it probably wont live." That was real nice to hear !!! But I knew my body & I said to him, "Hey, this aint Candy Bars [referring to my huge belly] it's ALL BABY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
GUESS WHO WAS RIGHT ??? ME !!!!!! As I said he weighed almost 5 1/4 pounds ! I only weighed 6lbs 1oz when I was born and I was almost a 10month-baby when my mom had me.
I would be worried if my baby wasnt kicking regularly, and quite a bit when kicking if I was 5 months along. Go see your OB asap. Do you have any medical conditions like diabetes or quite over-weight ??? If so you are what's called a HIGH-RISK PREGNANCY & you should be seeing your OB twice as often as other women !!!!!!
Best of luck & Best Wishes. It's probably a boy if youre carrying low, but you can know for sure with the PENCIL TEST. Put a threaded needle in the eraser of a pencil & either you or someone with a VERY STEADY, STILL HAND hold the pencil 2" to 3" over your belly. It may take a minute or so but the pencil will begin to move ALL ON IT'S OWN !!! If the pencil goes back & forth -- it's a boy ! If it goes round & round in circles it's a girl !!! Then have it held over your wrist. Be VERY PATIENT -- it will start & stop however many times for however many kids you are going to have and will show you their sex -- when it will no longer move on it's own -- after 1 1/2 minutes, it is then done. You'll then know how many kids you will have & their sexes and in their right order !!! You might want to check your hubby too -- if it's different, he either has kids or will have other kids by someone else someday. Also try this on your parents to prove how accurate this is -- IT'S AMAZING !!!! (IF it's done properly it NEVER FAILS -- I have tested it on dozens of people over the years & it's never been wrong. Do not tell people what you're doing till youre done and dont let them tell you how many kids they have or their sex -- this will prove the accuracy of this method. But the one who holds the pencil must have a VERY STEADY HAND or it will fail. Let me know what you come up with !!! Barb

I am 21 weeks pregnant and at my 20 week check up my uterus was just at my belly button. It is normal not to feel a lot of movement but if you felt it and then stopped feeling it talk to your doctor.

The first pregnancy, you usually begin to feel movements more and more strongly after 20 weeks. My wife happened to feel her first kick at 20 weeks and 2 hours gestation. The way you carry your belly varies. High, low, wide, narrow, etc. You should talk to your OB if you're concerned about where your uterus is at any given point, but unless it's hanging off to the side and lopsided, then it should be no cause for concern.
