Im curious about something. See when I was growing up, my dad always put me down by saying that I hung out with people younger then me. For example I would be 13 and have friends that are 11 or so then 14 years old, have friends that are 12. Now I'm 26, and feel that all my friends have to be my age or older. I hang out with people in their 40's and feel comfortable, and it seems that society is ok with it. Now if I want to live in a college dorm, they people would look at me funny and say that people in dorms ages are from 18-20, so why would you hang out with people like that? I'm like is there a big difference? My question is why do people look down at others who are friends with people who are younger?

also it seems like the more conservative someone is, the more likely they would do this.

i think it just human nature......

what goes though people minds when they see an older guys hang out with teenagers....does not seem right...why don't this guy hangout with his peers....and society does have too many expamples of older guys trying to hang out and meet teenages for bad purposes......it is a legit conern

younger people are less set in their ways....so it easier to get them to try something new....or seek to show their independence by hanging out with an older person to be more adult......as long as YOU set the boundries......and hold firm.....adults are more likely to go along....if ur trying to be at their level.....not a good rep to get....even if ur only have good intentions

for many years i did projects and hired college age workers....i have a strong personaliy but i am also very hip with trends....but i made sure they understood i was the boss....confidant if needed but not their pal.........their looking for role models...adults to guide them.....my policy....their off work parties was their life...not mine

it is interesting you want to live with 18-20.....some people do miss out on parts of college living....or the high school or college social scene..........and seek to experience it later in life.....but if ur acting like an 18 year old when ur 26, you will lose your young friends respect...because they expectmaturity in you due to your age......and you become a joke in their minds.....all said behind ur back

be kewl, be mature
and good luck

i used to hang out with some ppl that were younger than me (and also some ppl that were older), and i don't see anything wrong with it. i mean, it's considered cool to have friends that are older than you, right? so if someone has older friends than those friends have a younger friend. if you don't have any friends your own age or older though then ppl might think it's cause your immature and can only relate to ppl that are younger than you.

i think it would be weird to live in a college dorm when you're 26 though cause that's a bigger difference than like 11 and 13 or whatever.

Yeah it's just human nature. I like going snowboarding with my taekwondo teacher(bout 38) sometimes but I can't really be myself around him and go wild and **** like I do with my highschool buddies. (I'm 18)

And I don't think 26 is too old to be in a college dorm...I think 30 is the cut-off for me. Also it depends how you look, if you look 30 then it would be weird.
