Right now this would be in my order starting witht he best:
1. Dallas Mavericks- I think that their record is proof that they are the best team in the league right now. Avery Johnson has really turned this team into one that can actually play defense rather than a run and gun offense from the past. They have a deep team with both great young talent and also skilled veterans. Nowitzki is having an MVP season and Josh Howard is getting better and better. Plus the addition of Deaven George and Greg Buckner has added some much needed perimeter defense.
2. Phoenix Suns- They are on an 11 game win streak and are just blowing teams away. Their run and gun offense is hard for many teams to keep up with and can put up points with such ease. The Suns don't need to play defense, the just outscore teams and blow them away.
3. San Antonio Spurs- A team full of veterans that have proven to be great in the playoffs. Arguablly the best defensive team in the league and has a 2-time MVP by the name of Tim Duncan.
4. Miami Heat- They are still the nba champions and although they have injured players, they are still a great team. Once they get Shaq back and a healthy team they could possibly go for a repeat championship. But like the Spurs, they're getting old.
5. Los Angeles Lakers- Right now they are playing great ball, and that's without Lamar Odom, Kwame Brown, and Chris Mihm. Kobe has been getting his young team involved more and really has become a great team player. Luke Walton is having a career season and they have one of the top records in the league. Imagine them with Lamar and Kwame back. This team is going to be dangerous once they are back and healthy.

1.Pistons
2.Mavericks
3.Suns
4.Spurs
5.Nuggets.
1.Once the Pistons get the groove back, man there gonna be alomst unstoppable. Just watch there gonna get over this hump.
2. The Mavericks on once on an amazing winning streak. They play as one team. Once there on fire, no one can put them. Look for the in the NBA finals.
3. The Suns wow what more can we say about them. High quality players. That can shoot from all angles. Most of all Amare Stoudmaire is not hurt so, that make things alot more easier.
4. The never find a way to loser. They always find ways to win, especially if you have a player like Duncan in the middle that is not to bad at all. Manu Gilboli can drive it in like a mad man, look for them once in the playoffs. Its going to get intresting.
5. Some teams are on a break right, cause Carmelo is not playing. But wait till J.R. Smith, Anthony, and AI are together. Teams are going to get worried. It could be the best combantion of shooters that we could see right now.

Top Five Teams
1 Dallas
Has got to be the number one team 19 of their last 20 games. And have the one of better defensive teams out west, Plus the mavericks are very deep!!! Avery johnson has got them playin right. The key to mavericks is Josh Howard when he is on they usually do very well.
2. Miami
I know they don't look good right now. But most Defending champions start out slow.
But when the playoffs hit the Heat will be right there again. I think the extra playing time will help the younger guys come playoff time ,especially jason kapono he looks good.
And they have the X-MAN in D. WADE my vote for MVP goes to him no one has done more with less. Look at that roster it pitful without wade they are nuthin but washed up veterans.and shaq was out. D.wade kept them afloat i just hope he doesn't get tired at the end of the season.
Besides all that the Heat are the only team that i see that can matchup with dallas both offensively and defensively as they did last year in the finals
3. Phoenix Suns
I love this team I love watching this team play basketball it just so beautiful. The way they killed the cavs last week, U just felt the cavs were a high school team and the suns were on another level.
However their defense just isn't good enough. I think their style of play leads to bad defensive numbers. I don't think they are bad at defense just not as good as the San antonio spurs and the Dallas mavericks
4. The San antonio Spurs they are quietly getting healthy. manu has been hurt and to me Manu is that X-factor.
With Manu, tim, and tony parker healthy i just don't see anybody beating them besides dallas.
and remember they took dallas to 7 games last year
That just a little extra motivation this year.
5.Detroit pistons
Best starting 5 in basketball adding webber only makes them stronger. I like the pistons people forget they took the heat to 7 games last year. not just that the pistons won 64 games last year. so this year they are takin it slow they want to peak at the right time
The pistons and heat are still the giants in the east. those other teams are pretenders!!
Sleepers: Houston Rockets when healthly they have a complete team.Very good defensive team and with t-mac and wells can pull out close games.
Denver nuggets also might be better than people think
Camby is a good defensive guy leads the league in blocks
AI leads the league in steals.
anthony and iverson are 1 and 2 in scoring.
So the nuggets when anthony gets back will a very potent team.
Chicago bulls
They are very good defensive basketball team and remember They gave miami heat all kinda trouble last year in the playoffs will be the 3 seed out in the east

1.) RAPTORS: Have to go with my home town team. They're young and fun to watch with an up-tempo offense. Bargnani is playin like he should win rookie of the year and Bosh is playin like a legitimate all-star. The team has surpassed my expectations already and has a real shot to win the atlantic division...which actually makes them fun to follow this year.
2.) SUNS: They play the type of ball I wish the Raptors could play. Nash and his run and gun offense is really fun to watch. With Amare fully back in action, this team has the right pieces to win it all. If they stay healthy and maybe make one trade before the playoffs, I think they will win it all.
3.) SPURS: Not really playing that well according to the standings but when it comes to playoff-time, the Spurs are always dangerous. Solid defensive and veteran team built to win a championship. Probably the Suns biggest fear but this team is not very athletic and gave question marks at center and overall bench depth.
4.) MAVS: Playing really well this year as expected. Virtually the same players from last year's team and are surely hungry to return to the finals, after last year's collapse. Team's got really good court chemistry but are they deep enough to take the championship? As I said, pretty much the same team from last year but the team didn't really improve this year.
5.) ROCKETS: Huge factor, injuries. If this team can stay healthy for the playoff run, they could surprise some of the giants in the West. They obviously need Yao and T-Mac to be at their best and play injury-free. They have solid role players but probably not experienced or deep enough to win the title.
6) BULLS: My pick to win the East. Don't really see any weaknesses with this team and will only get better as the season progresses. Young and extremely deep and may get stronger through a trade. Court chemistry a concern but they have the talent.
