hmmm, do it the "simple" way

2x / 5y = 3 / 4 ... [multiply both sides by 5 / 2]

10x / 10 y = x / y = (5*3) / (2*4) = 15 / 8

which means that x / y = 15 / 8 which
is another way of saying:

[the ratio of "x to y" is "15 to 8"]

YOu multiplied both sides by 5/2 because u nid to cancel out 2/5 in the expression in the left so that X/Y will remain giving u a ratio.

if 2x/5y = 3/4
then
(2/5)(x/y) = 3/4
(2*5/5*2)(x/y) = (3*5)/(4*2)
x/y = 15/8

if 2x/5y = 3/4 then (cross-multiply) 8x=15y, then (cross-divide) x/y = 15/8
