Famous supermodel Christy Turlington is half Salvadorean.
Anthony Quinn is half mexican.
Martin Sheen, et al. are really Estevez.
Frankly, I can fill this space up with examples.
and whenever they do acknowledge it they always lump it into some crazy combination of Spanish, German, Dutch, Irish, and Native American blood, instead of just listing the cold-hard truth, Mexican.
I dont know if it's Hollywood and their racism that covers it up because they feel it's unappealing to the masses or the actors themselves.

Yes I've noticed that also but that usually happens with the ones who look white. Like Cameron Diaz, she looks white but she is mixed, her dad is Cuban. Also Jamie Lyn Sigler( Meadow from the Sopranos) she looks white also but her mother is Cuban. But then you have those like Jessica Alba who looks more Hispanic but she is half white. Her mother is white. But Christina Aguilera looks white but she's half hispanic and she acknowledges that!I just wish that they would acknowledge that heritage more!

i think it might be because they can't talk Spanish. i've never heard Cameron Diaz, Christina Aguilera, or any other "Half-Latino" celebrity speak a lick of it, unless they were born in a different country. Latino people are embarassed if they don't understand or speak Spanish. it's not the same with Italian or African people, but in Latino culture, it's like family shame.
"Your parents didn't teach you?! Oh no!!" embarassing...
plus i know out west, there's rascism between White people and Mexicans, so if you're in Hollywood, and you can pass for White, sometimes people don't mention that their father was from Monterrey and used to work in the Strawberry fields for $2 a day.
for some reason out west, people are afraid to say where their families from. Not the same with the rest of the States, only wacky Cali

There is racism no doubt, but many people have made their career from being hispanic and the passion/firey stereotype that comes from it e.g Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan, Antonio Bandareas, Penelope Cruz to name but a few!

I think they try to cover it up because they don't want to be discriminated. They know that there is prejudice in today's society and they don't want to be victims of it.
Perhaps some of the actors don't want to accept their heritage, but even for those who do, I suspect that they are advised against it, because they will make more money that way. People have been doing that for years and years.

Celebrities are always concerned with such things and it doesn't matter what ethnic, racial, or religious group they belong too. Most celebrities are very self-conscience is all.
Good Luck!!!
