Where did the words Penis and Vagina originate from?

Cause I think that they could have come up with more attractive names for both.

Penis, origin 1685-95
evidently from Latin "penis"
which means "tail, penis"

Vagina, origin 1675-85
evidently from Latin "vagina"
which means "sheath"

they come from latin origin, so my guess is the roman gods named them that so they had something to laugh about
