I wouldn't worry about the era of the music, she's 1. Any of them would be O.K. I guess.

You could try looking up singers that are on Radio Disney, although they're not really baby songs (more like for pre-teens). Here's a link where you can check out the top 30 list: http://radio.disney.go.com/music/top30.html

There's Hannah Montana, for example. I would say her songs are upbeat and girly. Not sure about cute though.

There's also a song by Hilary Duff called "I am" and the chorus goes:

I am special
I am beautiful
I am wonderful
I'm powerful
Unstoppable
Sometimes I'm miserable
Sometimes I'm pitiful
But that's so typical of all the things I am

It's a nice, poppy "love yourself" kind of song.

Hope these helped at least a little, and congratulations on her first birthday! :)

My son is 3, and he def. has his own taste in music...some of his fav. are the songs from the Backyardigan TV show...there's also a duo out there by the name of Judy and David, and they sing songs for kids, but it's not kids songs, they are regular written songs, just geared towards kids.

As for more recent songs, I would say early Britney Spears would be good, upbeat, cute and girly.
There's also a band called Steps and S Club 7, very "pop"py kinda music, upbeat. The kind you hear kids singing along to.
And there is always the Spice Girls! haha

Also, almost any boyband would have some of the music you could be looking for.

Hope this helps, and congrats to making it thro the first year!
