i have been given a harness to keep my back straight and arm sling to minimize movement. the last xray shows separation, that is, space between the broken parts of the bone. doc says 98% success of healing.

Keep the harness and back suppiort on 24hrs if possible. Give the bosy 6-8 weeks to heal (maybe a bit longer if the space if wide. But hang in there, it will sort itself out

because it's a bone that has an extremely rich blood supply and heals very nicely with immobilization. Just like a tailbone or shoulder blade (both of which I've broken) there's no cast for those bones, but they're in a very dense vascular area so healing is quick and unless you're being a dork, you won't notice a thing.

Yeah, stay in that harness and minimize the movement. Ouchhhhh, that's gotta hurt. I feel so bad...:>(
