Because they want to get elected or maybe they are wise enough to realize that when America wakes up and sees that they have been screwed they might want a little pay back and it wouldn't be to prudent to have recently been praising the one who is on the meat hook in town square if you know what I mean.

Republican leaders are now distancing themselves from Bush because the want to get re-elected. Look at the mid-terms. Republican got SLAUGHTERED because they belong to the same party as the village idiot. The American People spoke in this last election and Conservatives can't b i t c h and moan all they want but the majority of the forward thinking people of America have had it with the Republican controlled government, a few on this site are still in the dark yet.

They are fairweather friends. They feel foolish because their loyalties were to the man and the party, not the principles. Hopefully, that means more idealogical republicans can get back to washington. Neocons are not conservative at all. They like big government, big spending but they didn't want to be called liberals.

Because they don't want to lose another election. McCain is the only one with his nose still stuck on Bush, and it will cost him dearly in the next election too!
I personally believe that many of those Yahoo posters that you are talking about are being paid to post...I wouldn't put it past the GOP and PNAC to do it either.

It's probably because you surround yourself with non-republicans. They are not in hiding. Nor do they try to BS by scoring high on public opinion polls or sacrificing their morals for votes.

Now that the Democrats are in they aren't afraid to speak up. Before they feared being called a traitor. Or called into one of Bush's secret meetings.
