It's not to save money ChiC, my dogs thinks she's joined in the family meal and received her share. Stupid.

I love my dog very much, she has absolutely no digestive problems and she is quite thin. Our vet says she is in perfect health.

Yes then she thhinks that she has gotten her "share" of our meal even though she gets her own hearty supper.

"Is that not totally gross,?" Nope. Wouldn't bother me a bit. However, if *you* are bothered, you are entitled to your opinion. Why not call your friend and have a friendly discussion. Tell her you agree with her it's silly, and you don't want to offend her, but you just can't help feeling the way you do. If either of you are fans of the comic strip "Peanuts", mention that you are a lot like Lucy (who after being kissed by Snoopy wailed "I've been kissed by a dog! I have dog germs! Get hot water! Get some disinfectant! Get some Iodine!") Try to make this into a bit of a joke, so you can both laugh about it. If you handle it right, you can have some fun with this, and turn it from being a problem into a running joke. Ask her what *she* would suggest as a remedy. Tell her you don't mind bringing your own plate, or if she prefers, you could buy a package of the "chinet" disposable plates and leave it at her place for use when you are over.

Yuck, never! Couldn't you put any leftovers into the dog's own bowl instead? You have trained your dog to eat off your plates & bowls? Try, for once, eating from another dog's bowl and watch how they react to your invading their sense of personal space. Even if you like that dog a lot, are only taking a washed bowl and using it to hold a snack, and you know that they don't have worms, (or didn't when their owner last had their health checked), it can't possibly be a comfortable experience for either of you.
I can't see that anyone would appreciate that enough to copy your habit. Seriously, - don't you keep one set of plates for human guests? If they are thirsty, are you going to tell them to scoop water out of the dog's water bowl? Same thing. If you were asked over for a meal with friends, and saw them using the same dishes to feed their cats, or pet rats, whatever, and realised that the next time you visit, you would dine off those same dishes & bowls, wouldn't you feel a little bit downgraded?
I can understand that if you have arthritis or some back condition, it's difficult to scrape the plates out yourself, but who would want to see that and share a meal with you ever again?
{If you ever do change your habits, praise your dog in some other way right after meals, so your dog knows they are still loved.}

You must not really care about your dog then. This leads to your dog getting over weight and it is not really good for your dogs digestive track too. My wife used to do this with our border collie. Dog was 10 pounds over weight and she wondered why. Now I got her slim and trim. Even though she is a ten yr old puppy hehehe

I'm gonna go ahead and say no. :-) I don't think I could mentally eat off a plate that a dog licked. No offense, just personal preferance.

I don't because I have three dogs and they would all fight over one plate. And another reason.. one of my dogs is a basset hound. We don't want him to get fat because of his breed and they are prone to back problems so he's on a diet :)

Thats really gross, dogs lick down under and everything. You should just save money while you are at it and use your underwear to dry them.
