Yeah, I have to agree with you there.

I'm just watching GMTV and some relatives of Jo (the S-Club singer) are on saying that she only went into it for the money. That is the PROBLEM, the powers that be pay these nobodies HUGE amounts of money to go on these shows.

I couldn't think of a worse thing than fame, and the sad thing is that all the teenagers nowadays what this instant fame thing. They watch MTV and see the cribs of the stars and want a piece of the action.

They see z-listers like Jade Goody and Michelle Scott-Lee in OK and Heat - after appearing on reality shows - and see it as easy money.

I have a relative (who shall remain nameless for obvious reasons!) who is set on her children becoming famous - and it's like watching a car crash in slow motion. Her kids are spoiled and are turning into not very nice people. They believe they are a cut above everybody else and some of the things they say to my kids about their 'perfect' lives (apparently we - my family - 'bum off' them!!) - it makes us cringe. They are gonna get a real rude awakening one of these days I'm afraid. In the meantime, we're stood here on the sidelines waiting for their downfall, because we just know it's gonna happen sooner or later!

Another sad thing is these kids have these dreams to the detriment of their education - coz they 'know it all' - and let's face it - at 16, 17, 18 years of age - they do know it all - NOT, and so they have the tendencies to become racist, bigoted, ignorant, stupid etc., etc.

OMG - These sound like the rantings of a right nutter!! However, I truly believe in everything I've said.

Rant over!!

Very interesting question though! Thanks.

I'm not British but no, you shouldn't be ashamed. The world celebrates that stupid kind of celebrity. I mean, we have Paris Hilton for crying out loud! It doesn't get much worse than that!

I agree that we have made all these celebs rich, so we're to blame. we don't conscientiously celebrate these people but we are swayed by the tide of enthusiasm for reality TV ie everyone watches the box, these programmes are what younger individuals aspire to graduate to, they want to become celebrities instead of taking proper jobs where hard graft and intellect are the core prerequisites.

we...british people are not that important that we have created anyone, and ISNT it great for you that you can demonstrate abusive language about others.
jade is in a different world from most of us and isnt it great ,and wonderfull that she has then realness to express herself. jade has not been racist, however she is bordering on it,and that is part of hewr nature because she is such a strong personality. we need that in this world. all the people on television who have made clear their comments would like us to not have our own personalities and be just like them with their twisted power of example .If you want to see racism have a look at the bullying and psychological warfare that is going on around the streets of london, and its not europeans doing it, the racism mst practised is by super machoistic men,and they are not white

Please tell me where she came from. is she something to do with Television, in which case then yes. The celebrity culture has raised complete morons to prominence. just look at the football players and some of their actions. Seems to me that the viewing public have a lot ot answer for.

Yes we should. We have created a Frankenstein's monster and now it is time to hunt it down.

It does tell us a lot about our society - and it is not very complimentary!
