Yes, it's the equivalent of the gas light going on in your car. Your body is telling you it needs more fuel.

No. Your stomach contains hydrochloric acid and digestive juices which helps in the process of digesting your food and killing the bacteria present. When your stomach is empty, the acid will not have anything to work on and will churn to make that rumbling noise. Then you will feel hungry and that is because your stomach has no food in it.

No, the cells are popping fireworks to alert your brain workers that they need to get food. It's part of the Union contract, there are probably better ways to do it but the Chinese introduced fireworks to the west and our stomachs have been rumbling ever since. Though they used to play bongos before fireworks which was kinda cool but you looked foolish doing the Samba when you were hungry.

Actually your stomach stretches when it's full and contracts when it's empty, when it's empty it contracts and makes that sound.

LOL-NO-IT IS CAUSED BY AIR POCKETS IN YOUR DIGESTIVE TRACT---- FOR INSTANCE I AM TAKING A DRUG FOR ARTHRITIS THAT SLOWS DOWN MY DIGESTION AT THE SAME TIME--WHEN I STOP TAKING THE MEDS MY DIGESTION SPEEDS UP AND THIS CREATES POCKETS OF AIR---SO NOW MY STOMACH RUMBLES ALL THE TIME---BASICALLY AN EMPTY DIGESTIVE TRACT HAS MORE AIR IN IT. UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME THE CIA HAS PUT POISON IN MY MEDS THAT SLOWLY KILLS ME BUT THEY ALSO PUT A CHEMICAL IN IT THAT MAKES ME ADDICTED TO IT SO IT IS A SLOW PAINFUL DEATH IF I QUIT TAKING IT I GO INTO DEEP WITHDRAWAL AND CANNOT FUNCTION SO IT IS A CATCH 22 AND I SHOULD DIE SHORTLY---THIS IS A PROBLEM BY KNOWING TOO MUCH--STAY STUPID YOU WILL LIVE LONGER
