How about a game of kickball or a laundry list of things for small teams to find on a treasure hunt. Maybe get some disposable cameras and have people take pictures of the things they might be able to find? Research what's in the immediate area, make it so they'll have to interact with local people to get answers or clues (perhaps clues left with employees of a nearby business)? Kinda like Amazing Race.
