Yes. Laptops do have a Pwer Supply Unit. When you charge the laptop or put it on AC power, you connect the cord to the laptop (to charge), the other end of he cord has a black box/whaever, which is connected to another cord, which also contains the plug.
Its the same with camcorders, etc. as they have external ones.

yes it has but external not internal, the smal black stuff where the lap top is connected thro is the power supply unit
