I totally hate to be told to do anything, especially when I'm pissed.

that depends on who said it to me and how the words were said. if it's out of concern for me, then it calms me down a bit. but if it's 'geez, relax' with eyes rolling...grrrr!

That's usually the point where the ammo goe INTO the chamber!
I've got a hella temper and b!tchy mood swings, my budds at the Pizza place I work partime weekends know, when I'm boiling to steer clear, only the two closest friends I have there are even brave enough or know that the only way to "calm" me down or diffuse me is to change the subject, ignore what I'm fuming about.
And I'm the same way. If a close friend is totally unhooked, I'm more prone to just pull down my pants and flash/moon em, cuz gawd knows noone can be angry at anyone but God himself if you have to see me nekkid.

Usually if someone tells me to calm down I do. I know then that I am going overboard.But yes I hate it.

Yes it does piss me off really badly but then again you have to remeber that they care about you and are trying to keep you outta trouble, but that still dont mean you cant extend that arm and ***** slap them across the face for saying something dumb!

I teach my officers try to come with something else beside that line to calm a situation. Unfortunalty this is the most used line to try to get someone to calm down hehehe.
I like to say relax, I did not understand what you are trying to say to me. Could you please repeat yourself and please make it a little slower. I want to help you.
