You've been going out almost 2 years, and the friend that is in question, you rarely talk to anyway. But, shouldn't it about the principle of the thing?

You need to find out what it is about this friend that she has a problem with. In the end you are the one that has to decide to go along with her wishes or not you should figure out which is more important to you . The friend you rarely see or your girlfriend. The fact yu rarely see this person anyway could be a sign that the friend is not really as important to you as you think

Ask for the real reason why this is important...make it a will not get mad zone for the telling of the reason. If the request is reasonable what will it hurt? If it is another in a long list of friends she wants you to drop...drop kick her out of your life.
The truth and total respect is after all, what we all desire. Any time your s/o has a request on that order or asks what is going on, don't hesitate, answer truthfully whether it will make them mad or not. Their respect for you will not be diminished because you have withheld facts or are a liar.

I agree. it should be about the principle of the thing.
in my oppinion one big rule in a relationship would be compromising.
lets say that you want to buy a watch for 5 $ while the guy who sells it sells it for 10$, to compromise would be buying it with 7.5 $.
The same thing, I think, has to be done with your condition.
YOu have a principle, so does she, find a way in between. Dont push what you want but dont give in for what she wants.

It obviously bothers her for some reason that you are friends with this person. Find out what the problem is. If you respect her and your relationship, you will do what it takes not to hurt her.

if she really loved you she would not ask you to choose, but then again certain rules do apply to this, why does she want you t o give up this friend?
