I have a court date in a completely different state that is too far to drive to. I'm bringing my soon to be born son with me on the plane. should it be fine that he will be going with me since he will be about a month old?

Check with his doctor. If they say it is ok make sure that you give him a bottle, breastfeed or give him a pacifier during take-off and landing to reduce pressure in his ears. Ask his doctor if you can use natural ear drops, like Similisan, just in case. I have noticed that they work good for unplugging my ears when I have a cold.

It should be fine, but I would bring the baby in a sling and keep him close to you. That way you are kind of filtering out alot of the bright lights, noise and germs you would encounter in an airport. Slings are great anyway, because they simulate the feeling of being in utero and babies can sleep for hours in the. It will make it easier on both of you. The only downside is that you will have to take it off to enter the gate at the security checkpoint. I highly suggest breastfeeding as well. It is so much better for your baby than formula. It's easy and free. It is also great for bonding and you will have a happy little camper on the plane ride if you can snuggle and nurse the whole way. It really helps with preventing popping ears. Good luck and best wishes on your journey!

Not fine at all! Many viruses and colds are transmitted on planes and in airports, and 1 month is not old enough to be exposed. Delay the trip or leave the newborn with a responsible relative. You'll be glad you went to the extra trouble. Best of luck.

It's fine to fly with a newborn. Just clear it with your paediatrician / obstetrician. I recently had a baby and the lady in the adjoining room was interstate on holidays when the baby came unexpectedly early. After she was discharged from hospital she was flying back home with her baby and partner. Her paediatrician had no problem with this.

The only thing I can really think of as to why you shouldn't would be his little ears popping. I'm uncomfortable on a plane taking off and landing, imagine his new little ears! I would ask your doctor about it! Good luck!

He can fly with you, but be prepared. Try to arrange the flight during his naptime if possible. And remember that cabin pressure can make him irritable and that the air in an airplane is a breeding ground for bacteria and viruses.

Call the airlines ahead of time and be sure to tell them you are a new mother. In most cases they will accomadate you with TLC.

If I were you - I'd leave him with a relative. Babies and airplanes just don't work. The air pressures hurts the babie's ears; so the kid ends up crying and screaming. Please do the passengers a favor and leave the kid with a really close relative.
